City-state and de facto capital of Ganamied.
Location: Northern shore of southwestern Ganamied Island / Ares
Population: 2,465,000 (2385 PC)
History: This city sprung up within the first few centuries after humanity landed on Ares. It was known that something artificial had crashed on Ganamied Island at some point in the past.
It turned out to be the wreck of a Kyserian Planet Ship, which had been there for several million years. Despite its age and catastrophic landing, much of its interior components were still in decent shape. It was also a tremendous source of advanced materials which were quickly exploited by the Aresians.
Built on the coast, north of the wreckage, it’s one of the few places on the island that isn’t either frozen or filled with toxic and radiological debris.
The city was expanded by Gnaltic Empire with slave labor form the future Viltorian Combine. No one knows how many died dismantling the ancient ship, as the Gnaltic records were either lost or never existed. Estimates range from thousands to a million.
In the modern era, it has become its own city state. No longer wanted by any of the other governments, as most of the advance materials and tech have already been removed from the site. However, efforts continue to mine deeper into the swamps around the wreck, occasionally pulling out bits of the ship to sell on the Black Market.
The population has declined significantly since the early days, leaving large tracts of the city being all but abandoned. These areas have devolved into lawlessness and are ruled over by organized crime and tribal groups. However none of these groups will cross the brokers and their network that oversees the city.
