“NOrthern bloc Military ADvanced training and counterterrorism regiment”
A sort of “backronym” assigned to a new elite unit formed in 2375 PC.
It was formed from older elite units and governmental organizations. Namely operators from the Special Recon Force, Interagency Security Force, and Department Of Intelligence Services.

NOMAD is structured into different groups.
Group 1 through 3 are small elite counterterrorist and espionage teams.
Group 1 are the protagonists on the Schattenkrieg novel.
Group 2 are not currently featured in any narratives.
Group 3 are featured in both the Schattenkrieg and Endzeit novels.
Group 4 are known as the Rangers. They are a battalion strength unit who are elite, but didn’t make the cut for the small teams.
Group 5 is the administrative branch. While not specifically combat personnel, they do undergo significant training and are pulled from the regular army.
